Most people probably didn't know Sutherland played on the Basketball team when he moved here his Junior and Senior year. A  hard worker, a really good guy.  Jim had legs that booked like tree trucks, we use to kid him he looked more like a  football player rather than a basketball player. I always had  a good time with Jim but really never was great friends, but he was always a great team mate, worked hard, fit in with the group and was certainly an asset to the team.  Jim passed way to early, sometimes life isn't really fair.

I was shocked at one of our early reunions to learn Jim had passed.  He was one of many classmates I wish I had gotten to know better during my two short years in Haltom City.  Like Billy, I knew Sutherland mostly as a basketball team mate.  What a stout fellow.  Might not have been the most talented guy on the team, but if he set a pick, you didn't get around him.  And, I think he actually dunked the ball at practice one day, at least that's how my aged mind remembers it.  Jim was a fun and funny person to be around, who had a great smile that is missed.
